93 - I'm a Turkey! - Children's book review

I'm a Turkey.jpg

I’m a Turkey! was written and illustrated by Jim Arnosky and published by Scholastic Inc.

Tom, the turkey, shows us what life is like as a turkey. Tom has a big family of 102 and every day all of the members have to be on the look out for critters that are always looking to eat them. Gobble gobble!

I’m a Turkey’s written in a simple way and takes place in autumn. I guess the author wanted people to read this book around that time since that when we usually eat that bird.

There is no sign of humans in this story which is probably a good thing because we would probably be seeing these turkeys get blown up by shotguns.

I actually didn’t know that turkeys could fly and I though this book was turning into science fiction story but it seems to be true after checking this out on Youtube. These big fat bird can actually take off and fly!

The illustrations are all well done and Arnosky captured the movement and figures of this somewhat goofy looking animal quite well.

If you’re interested, there’s a song to this book and can be heard at www. scholastic.com/Arnosky. The song is catchy and simple (not too many chords). I wouldn’t sing along while reading the book because the lyrics are pretty quick (you’ll probably rip the pages trying to keep up).

I’m a Turkey is a well written book and visually pleasing. Recommended for younger children.
