116 - Incredible Me! - children's book review

Incredible Me! was published Harper Collins Publishers. It was written by Kathi Appelt and illustrated by G. Brian Karas.

Incredible Me! is about a young girl that knows how special she is. Anything she does is considered special. She loves the way she looks and the way she moves. By the end of the story she’s on the stars in the sky and finally lands back in her room.

I was a little sceptical about reading this book since I was expecting an egotistical kid talking about herself.

I suppose if a child might have self-confidence issues this book might be good for that child. Kind of like a self-help book, there might be a few pages that make a child realize the beauty of living and that we are all unique and capable.

The illustrations and story have a “musical” type feel and the reader is taken on a wild ride. The drawings can be fairly abstract which makes this story a nice visual escape.

There was one word that I didn’t know and had to look up in Google. Cowlick... it seems to part of your hair that goes in a different direction (or something like that).

Recommended, if you don’t mind the child in the story with tons of confidence. Also, this book is probably more suited for females but I’m sure most people can guess that from the front cover.
