Mr. Putney’s Quacking Dog was written and illustrated by Jon Agee. It was published in 2010 by Michael Di Capus Books.

Mr. Putney lives around all sorts of animals. These animals are very very similar to the ones on earth but... with a slight difference.

This book is page after page of corny puns. If you like this kind of humor, this might be the greatest book you’ve ever read. If you’re not into puns, you might find yourself groaning over and over again.

The ideas are all well done and I have to admit that I couldn’t guess any of the animal names. The formula of this book is there is a question on the right side page about the animals around Mr. Putney. The reader has to guess how the word of the animals will be modified. Then you find out on the following page.

I’ve read one other book by Jon Agee and his illustration style satisfies me. His strokes are done quick and naturally. He does a nice job of drawing the various animals in this book.
