I’m Bored was published in 2012 by Simon & Schuster Books. It was written by Michael Ian Black and illustrated by Debbie Ridpath Ohi.

There’s a little girl sitting around the house with nothing to do and claims that she’s “bored”. She picks up a potato and thinks it’s boring but this potato talks. The potato likes flamingos so it’s bored. The little girls explains and demonstrates to the potato that being a kid can be fun if you use your imagination.

A potato and a flamingo... I’m just as perplexed as you probably are.

I wasn’t very sure what to make of this book the first time I read it (I read it one more time a few days later). Kids like to fool around and use their imagination to create worlds and activities. This story is about that kind of child... and then a potato and flamingo is added. I don’t really get it...

There’s one page when the girl finally gets frustrated with the potato and explains in a preachy way, how being a kid can be fun and not boring.

The illustrations were made with a computer and on the inside of the front jacket, it mentions that this book is suitable for children of the ages 3 to 8.
