The trombone may be one of the most awkward instruments out there. If you have a quick tongue you can play whatever the hell you want. In my case my tongue is like a lead pipe… I have to laboriously lift it all the time (so I believe). I wish someone told me how much of a bitch this instrument would be to learn before I started my life journey of trying to tame this beast.
Well, ranting like this probably isn’t good for my soul. I do like playing the instrument at times.
Recently I came up with the idea of putting up trombone children’s songs. Instead of trying to improvise with my usual flair (you can see more on my Youtube page), I realised that sometimes it’s nice to just take it easy and play things as simply as possible. I’m trying to avoid anything overtly technical and perhaps that why I’m calling my next project “children songs”. This song is dorky, goofy and simple-minded. I’m sure kids would love it.
