179 - Cat Secrets by Jef Czekaj - children's book review

Cat Secrets.jpg

Cat Secrets was published in 2011 by HarperCollins Publishing. It was written and illustrated by Jef Czekaj.

This story is about “cat secrets”. The cats talk directly to the reader and we have to prove that we really are cats. By the end we find out...

This book might be fun for little kids that want to make cat noises. Maybe a purr or a meow will be just fine... the book is interactive since the cats talk to us, the reader.

The illustrations were done by a computer and are very simple... the background is usually blue with nothing, expect for a little mouse doing silly things, behind. Also, the illustrator (I believe he’s a cartoonist) uses a lot of speech bubbles.

I read another one of Czekaj’s books (Hip & Hop, Don’t Stop!) which I chose not to review since I thought the book would be too weird for children... it had way too much slang. Cat Secrets is fairly straight forward and should be fun for really young readers.
