130 - The Fabulous Bouncing Chowder by Peter Brown - children's book review

The Fabulous Bouncing Chowder was published in 2007 by Little, Brown and Company. It was written and illustrated by Peter Brown.

Chowder, the dog, wants to be an acrobat. His owners the Wubbingtons send him to Fabu Pooch Boot Camp but it really doesn’t suit Chowder’s character. The other dogs are a little to “vain” for him to associate with.

Halfway through the story, it’s announced that there is going to be a pageant. The prize is a one-year supply of delicious Snarf Snacks. Chowder get motivated by this and since he isn’t the best looking dog, he trains himself to do neat tricks on a trampoline. In the end, Chowder doesn’t win but he becomes the “spokedoggy” for Snarf Snacks.

I was a bit sceptic about this book judging by the front cover. Maybe it was the use of colors but... this is a pretty entertaining book and the overall message is good. Pursue your dreams!

I’m trying to figure out what I can compare the art in this to. It has a kind of retro feel to it... The use of colors is quite vivid and work well with the story. I also like having an “ugly” looking main character that doesn’t fit in. It made me want Chowder to succeed more.

A nice story... recommended.

Oh... I went to www.chowderandfriends.com and I found a website related to marriage fortune telling.
