202 - Posting my illustrations on Facebook

It seems like I’m back on Facebook…

I’ve been using Facebook for the past 3 or 4 years… time flies so I can’t say exactly how long I’ve been using it (I’m sure I could look this up some way but I can’t really be bothered). I have a love/hate relationship with the site.

The good points about Facebook are that it keeps me in touch with people from all around the world and that I can post my illustrations/photos. Sometimes I can get some useful information… but rarely.

I do wonder how much people pay attention to the illustrations and photos that I put up. After spending 4 or 5 hours on an illustration, I usually post what I’ve produced on Facebook. The people that look at my drawings may glance at what I’ve created for… a second.

Perhaps, this was one reason why I gave up Facebook for three months. It was quite refreshing to not check what was going on with my Facebook page for that period but, alas, I’m back on it. I’m addicted to the idiotic attention game of people looking at my stuff. I should just think of it as mindless self-promotion.

I should try to be a bit more positive about the “second” that someone may look at what I’ve drawn (as stated in paragraph four)… if people look at what I’ve produced for 2 seconds, it’s a bit of an accomplishment. 3 seconds or more would be more time than what people might give to a viewing of a “famous” paintings in museums.

So maybe there is some point in posting stuff on Facebook… but then I have to endure looking at advertisements that I can't give a damn about and look at lots of smiley faces and pictures of food, cuz that’s what everyone’s life is like.

Oh, here’s a recent drawing:
