152 - Arthur's Dream Boat - children's book review

arthur's dream boat.jpg

Arthur’s Dream Boat was published by Candlewick Press and was written and illustrated by Polly Dunbar.

Arthur has a wonderful dream about being on a boat. He wants to tell his family about this but no one seems interested. Towards the end of the story, he screams at everyone and they are transported into his dream world.

The beginning of Arthur’s Dream Boat uses a lot of white space... towards the end the pages are full of color. The colors tend to be on the soft side.

The text is very simple from the beginning... there aren’t too many challenging words and throughout the story there are many sound effects. Arthur tells a bit of the story to the members of his family and adds a bit more every time.

There is a bit of adventure in Arthur’s Dream Boat and by the end the whole family is together... happy. Sometimes families just aren’t that interested in what children have to say... this is unfortunate. Lets all listen to our children...
