133 - Our Library by Eve Bunting - children's book review

Our Library.jpg

Our Library was written by Even Bunting and was illustrated by Maggie Smith. It was published by Clarion Books in 2008.

The library is about to be closed. All the little animals are worried so they decide to save the library. By doing research at the library they figure out how to do this. By the end, the library is saved.

Our Library is a light read and the tension never get past boiling point. All of the animals live in a peaceful coexistence.

The main point of the story is that libraries are great places where we can get a lot of knowledge. Libraries open up new worlds for all of us.

The book is written from the point of view of the raccoon. The word “we” is used quite frequently. None of the children are really featured in this book and the only two characters that I can remember are Miss Goose and Old Beaver...

The illustrations are nicely done. There are lots of drawings of fields and every character looks cute and kind (except for Weasel).
