Mazes…
I remember getting a book from my uncle as a Christmas present. It was a book of mazes.
Basically I would have to use a pencil and try to find the right path. I did most of it and the visual look of each maze must’ve had an impact on my brain.
Somehow I think a lot of men have this fascination of mazes. There’s that famous Greek story about the minotaur in a labyrinth (I just looked this up on Google and the story is about a labyrinth, which should have only one route that goes on for a long long time) and I’m sure lots of young men have played video games where you have to figure out how to get out of certain places.
When I draw my illustration I sometimes draw and draw. I take one theme or pattern and continue until I realise that it’s about time to vary what I’ve drawn. After looking at the drawing below, it took me a couple of days to figure out what I had drawn… well, it seems to be a bit of a maze with strange looking trees… and if you look carefully there is that one creature that you don’t want to bump into.
