Who am I?

BORING BIO

Bonjour?

Born in Vancouver Canada in October 1977 (getting’ old). Personality is kind of neurotic, sarcastic and socially awkward with my brain usually going blank when on the spot. I think the brain going blank on the spot is due to the fact that my parents put me in French immersion in elementary school. I had no idea what the —— was going on for many years, never bothered to speak up and ended up daydreaming a lot. To this day, I have no idea why they made me learn a language that’s kind of useless in Vancouver. Oh well…A

Education - Graduated from high school in Vancouver. Attended Douglas College for a few years (music). Attended UBC after that for a few years (music). Got a Bachelor of Music degree (main focus was trombone performance). Why the trombone?

My grandfather was a music teacher in Maple Ridge once upon a time. Apparantly, he was a strict teacher. I only met him once before he got dementia. Maybe no news is good news when dealing with family members? I haven’t bothered to ask the details. Well, after getting dementia he only lasted a few years which might be for the best (who would want to live in those kind of conditions…). My father managed to get a few instruments from his house before the legal battle between his step-mother started. One of those instruments was a trombone.

Gotta continue with the boring bio…

Taught English in Japan for 9 years in Hokkaido (mainly Sapporo - sometimes in Asahikawa & Hakodate). Spent a lot of time drinking mugi-shochu in a jazz bar close to my apartment. Got to learn how to converse in Japanese at these kind of places.

Have travelled all over Japan and passed JLPT 2nd Level. I’ve failed JLPT 1 because it’s idioticly difficult (I’ve gotten Japanese people to look at examples of this test and even they screw up).

Don’t really play the trombone anymore but enjoy butchering through the “classical” piano repetoire or playing it in a way that it was supposed to be played…

I like illustrating to improve my imagination. I think my style is kind of “pop art” to a certain degree (a lot of improvising and doing whatever my brain can think of at that moment). Maybe I should take a course and learn a bit more… or maybe I shouldn’t.

Hmm… whatelse. Maybe I’ll add whatever when I think of something… after a beer or two.

Thanks for reading.
